At LEAP Centre, we provide paediatric occupational therapy assessments to help families better understand a child’s strengths, developmental needs and participation in everyday activities.
An assessment may be recommended when a child is experiencing challenges with self-care, sensory processing, fine motor skills, handwriting, attention, school participation or other daily tasks. Assessments may also be required to support NDIS planning, school accommodations, assistive technology applications or ongoing therapy recommendations.
Our occupational therapists use parent interviews, observations and appropriate standardised or non-standardised assessment tools to build a detailed picture of your child’s functional needs. Findings are then used to provide clear recommendations for therapy, environmental adjustments and practical support at home, school and in the community.
Our comprehensive assessment services are designed to provide thorough evaluations and personalised recommendations with a formal report which may be used as needed by various professionals and organisations supporting the child.
We believe in a client-centered approach to assessments, where the individual’s strengths, challenges, and goals are at the forefront of our evaluation process. While assessments are not mandatory to access our services, we recognise that they may be necessary for various reasons, including school supports, funding applications, or to inform treatment planning.
