Occupational Therapy Assessments

All of our OT therapy begins with a comprehensive parent interview and observations which allow our therapists to learn the most about your child in the shortest amount of time possible and helps our therapist start off therapy on the right foot. Our OTs also conduct detailed evaluations as needed to understand each client’s unique strengths, challenges, and needs. These assessments may include observations, standardised tests, and interviews with clients and their families.

Based on the assessment results, we develop personalised therapy plans that target specific areas of development. These plans are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the client’s progress and changing needs.

Our assessments also provide valuable insights to families and other professionals involved in the client’s care. We use this information to advocate for appropriate support and accommodations in various settings, such as schools and community programs.

Our team of Occupational Therapists is dedicated to providing comprehensive, client-centered care. We are committed to helping our clients develop the skills and confidence needed to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

At LEAP Centre, we are committed to providing high-quality occupational therapy services that are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. While we typically initiate the therapy process with a parent planning meeting, which we believe allows us to get the most comprehensive and holistic view of the child, we understand that formal assessments sometimes also play a valuable role in supporting our clients.

Our comprehensive assessment services are designed to provide thorough evaluations and personalised recommendations with a formal report which may be used as needed by various professionals and organisations supporting the child.

Our Approach to Assessments

We believe in a client-centered approach to assessments, where the individual’s strengths, challenges, and goals are at the forefront of our evaluation process. While assessments are not mandatory to access our services, we recognise that they may be necessary for various reasons, including school supports, funding applications, or to inform treatment planning.

Following the assessment, our team works closely with the client and their family to develop a personalised intervention plan based on the assessment findings and the client’s goals. We provide detailed recommendations for therapy goals, strategies, and interventions to address the identified areas of need and promote progress towards optimal functioning and participation.

At LEAP Centre, we recognise the importance of assessments in supporting our clients. Our comprehensive assessment services are designed to provide valuable insights and personalised recommendations to support the client’s needs.
